Aerial Yoga

Yoga but make it fly.

You're suspended in a hammock. Swinging, flipping, hanging upside down. Building strength you didn't know you had whilst having a laugh.

It's yoga. It's circus. It's proper fun.

What Actually Is Aerial Yoga?

Yoga using fabric hammocks suspended from the ceiling. You use the hammock for support, resistance, and to do things your body can't do on the ground - like hang upside down safely.

Different teachers take different approaches. Some focus on strength building. Others on spinal decompression through inversions. Most blend playful flow with proper work.

The hammock takes weight off your joints whilst adding challenge to your core and upper body. Inversions happen gradually as you build confidence.

This is accessible even if you've never done yoga before. The hammock supports you in ways the floor can't.

Why Aerial Yoga Works

Your spine is compressed. From sitting. From gravity. From life.

Aerial yoga decompresses it. Hanging upside down creates space between your vertebrae. Your back gets a break from holding you upright. Many people find relief from back pain they've had for years.

But it's not just therapeutic. It's fun. Properly fun. The kind of movement that makes you feel like a kid again. Swinging. Flipping. Discovering what your body can do when it's supported differently.

People come for back relief, core strength, or just because it looks amazing.

What to Expect

You'll learn how to set up your hammock height. How to get in and out safely. How to trust that it'll hold you (it will).

Your teacher guides you through poses using the hammock - some you'll recognise from ground yoga, adapted for the air. Others are unique to aerial work.

You'll build up to inversions. Not forced. Just when you're ready. Hanging upside down feels weird the first time, then brilliant.

Expect to laugh. Expect to feel wobbly. Expect to use your core more than you thought possible.

After, your spine will feel longer. Your body will feel worked. You'll be buzzing.

Who Aerial Yoga Is For

Anyone with a sense of adventure.

If you're pregnant, wait until after. If you have certain medical conditions (glaucoma, recent surgery, very high blood pressure), check with your doctor first.

You don't need yoga experience. You don't need to be strong or flexible. The hammock does a lot of the work. You just need to be willing to try something different.

All adventurous bodies welcome. No judgement.
