What Actually Is Qi Gong?

Chinese practice that combines gentle movement, breathwork, and meditation to cultivate and move life force energy (qi) through your body.

Movements are slow, flowing, and accessible to all bodies. You're not forcing anything. You're learning to direct energy through intention and gentle physical action.

Different teachers work with different styles and lineages. Some focus more on health and vitality. Others on martial applications or spiritual development. Most sessions blend movement with standing meditation and breathwork.

The common thread: Qi Gong helps you feel and direct your own energy. It builds vitality, calms your nervous system, and helps you feel more centred and present.

Classes are typically 45-60 minutes. Accessible for all ages and fitness levels.

Why Qi Gong Helps

You're depleted. Scattered. Your energy feels low or chaotic. You need something gentle that actually builds capacity instead of depleting you further.

Qi Gong cultivates energy rather than spending it. Regular practice increases vitality, improves circulation, calms anxiety, and helps you feel more grounded and present.

It's also moving meditation. If sitting meditation feels impossible, Qi Gong gives your mind something to focus on whilst your body moves gently.

People come for stress relief, building energy, managing chronic illness, or because they're drawn to gentle, meditative movement.

What to Expect

You'll move through a series of gentle, flowing movements. Your teacher will guide the breath and intention work that goes with each movement.

There might be standing meditation - just standing still and feeling your energy. Harder than it sounds. Powerful for building presence.

The pace is slow. The movements are simple. But you'll feel your body working energetically even though you're not physically exerting much.

After, you'll feel calm but energised. Grounded. More present in your body. Like you've been gently reset.

You don't need special clothes or equipment. Just comfortable clothing you can move in.

Who Qi Gong Is For

Everyone. Genuinely.

If you're dealing with chronic illness, injury, or limited mobility, Qi Gong adapts. If you're stressed and overwhelmed, it helps regulate. If you're fit and active, it balances harder training.

You don't need flexibility. You don't need fitness. You just need to be willing to move slowly with awareness.

Practices That Work Together

Qi Gong works well alongside other movement and healing practices. Combine with tai chi for related work, yoga for different movement styles, or energy healing practices like Reiki.
